Nick White
Consultant & Trainer
Nick has over 40 years of experience in the world of education and inclusion, including 18 years of school leadership as Headteacher / Principal of schools/colleges in the independent, state, AP/FE, and academy sectors. He has led groups of over 100 staff and held overall responsibility for budgets of £5 million plus.
Nick’s first headship coincided with the publication of the Special Educational Needs and Disability Act, and he embraced the move towards inclusion, rather than “integration”. His school (Boys SEMH) quickly gained a reputation in London and the Southeast for very high rates of inclusion back into mainstream by the age of 13. His second headship built on these foundations, and he formed and led a fully integrated and diverse team, including SaLT, OT, EP, Art Therapy, Forest School, physiotherapy and clinical psychology services. Nick recently served as an interim Principal of an AP/FE college in London.
Since “retiring” in 2018, Nick has used his passion, commitment, skills, and experience to help children, young people, families, employers, and employees address bias and discrimination, and remove barriers. He has worked with housing associations, local government, and academies, and carried out Tribunal work. Nick is currently the Independent Chair of a Local Authority Education Partnership.
Nick’s qualifications include an MA(Ed) in Leadership, NPQH, Local Leader in Education and Solution-Focused Brief Therapy. He is able to work in a variety of contexts using a wide a range of approaches.
With a coaching mindset and solution-focused thinking, Nick supports individuals and organisations to bring about meaningful change in themselves and others. His energy and skills complement the team at Inclusion-UK and his collaboration with us as an Associate enables him to have a more significant impact at a strategic level in the field of inclusion.
